Description/Focus: Essay – The Helping Process Due Date: 6 pm, Saturday, 6 October 2018 Length: 1500 words (excluding references) Task: Write an essay that: Describe the stages of the helping process. Integrate the communication skills that are important at each stage of the helping process. Identify barriers to communication that may impact the engagement process. Discuss how the potential barriers to communication might be addressed. Presentation: The paper must be typed on a word processor; contain an introduction that outlines the logical structure of your paper; and contain a conclusion that critically reflects on the implications of your paper. Use the 3rd person context. Assessment criteria: The essay will be assessed according to the following criteria: Ability to describe the stages of the helping process. (25%) Ability to identify and integrate communication skills within the helping process. (30%) Ability to Identify and discuss barriers to communication and appropriate strategies to address them.
