An examination of the research suggests that despite claims that psychotherapeutic practice show increase evidence of eclecticism; other studies show that practitioners choose of four approaches to psychotherapy: (a) cognitive-behavioral, (b) psychodynamic, (c) experiential/phenomenological, and family systems (Poznanski & McLennan, 1999). The formulation of a theory is related to how one thinks about human nature. For example, according to Friedman & Schustack (2006), many personality theories emerged from the theorist’s own views, and insights .In the same way, as the research suggests, practitioners may strive to be objective; however, it is obvious that their background, environment, and experiences color their view of human nature, and influence theoretical perspectives.
